Today, Saturday 28th January, the vote for the Prime Minister was passed in the Slovenian National Assembly. The newly-formed centre-right coalition consists of all three EPP parties: the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS, 26), the Slovenian People's Party (SLS, 6) the New Slovenia (NSi, 4), Gregor Virant's Civic List (DGLV, 8) and the Democratic Party of Slovenian Pensioners (DeSUS, 6) and the SDS president, Mr Janez Janša, was appointed to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia (more)

The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel has expressed support to the president of the Slovenian Democrats (SDS), Janez Jansa, in the race ahead of the 4 December general election. "I especially support Janez Jansa. I wish him success in the election campaign. Jansa took Slovenia to the eurozone and is a great European," Merkel said at a recent summit of the European People's Party (EPP), whose member is also the SDS. (more)
