Dr. Turk commenced his statement by stating that in Slovenia “we have the Martin Krpan syndrome”, someone who wanted an imperial patent on the local monopoly. We still want this, but we cannot persevere in in current conditions. (more)
The Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) organized an open forum on the topic of "Social Dialogue" in Maribor last Wednesday, which was hosted by Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee for Labour, Family and Social Affairs, Romana Tomc. The deputy mayor of Maribor mag, Tomaž Kancler, and the President of SDS, Janez Janša, welcomed the guests at the Open Forum. (more)

The SDS filed a complete list of candidates for members of parliament in all eight electoral units. The list is composed of 88 individuals, chosen among over 200 candidates, submitted to the Executive board by the SDS local committees. (more)

At today's election convention in Brdo in Videonagovoru it was announced that Mr. Janša and the President of the SDS received the support of numerous prominent figures, such as President Jose Manuel Barroso, Pedro Passos Coelho (Portuguese Prime Minister), Jyrki Chattiness (Prime Minister of the Republic Finland), Michael Spindelegger (Vice Chancellor of the Republic of Austria), Emil Boc (Prime Minister of Romania), and Victor Orban (the Prime Minister of Hungary) (more)
During the October summit of the EPP (European People's Party), Mr. Jansa discussed the upcoming Slovenian elections with European leaders including Angela Merkel, Danuta Hübner, Werner Langen, Simon Busuttil, Jean-Pierre Audy, Joseph Daul, and Michael Spindelegger. Many European leaders have showed significant support for the SDS party and expressed, that in their opinion, the SDS is the only party in Slovenia that can rebuild Slovenia's prosperity (more)
The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel has expressed support to the president of the Slovenian Democrats (SDS), Janez Jansa, in the race ahead of the 4 December general election. "I especially support Janez Jansa. I wish him success in the election campaign. Jansa took Slovenia to the eurozone and is a great European," Merkel said at a recent summit of the European People's Party (EPP), whose member is also the SDS. (more)
After a nearly three-year mandate the socialist government of Prime Minister Borut Pahor received on 20th September 2011 a no-confidence vote in the National Assembly. The MP´s voted out the government in a 36-51 confidence vote (out of 90 MP´s), paving the way for early elections, possibly in December 2011. SDS President Janez Janša: "What happened today should have happened six months ago". In his opinion we should now focus on the future. (more)
